Leadership

Amaury Ciurana

CEO & Co-Founder

I’m Amaury Ciurana, CEO and co-founder of REEV. Trained as a French aerospace engineer at ISAE-SUPAERO and shaped by entrepreneurial programs at HEC Paris, École Polytechnique, and UC Berkeley, I’ve always believed that technology should serve those who need it most—driving meaningful impact at scale.

That belief took me from winning the Handitech Trophy and the €1M Lopez-Loreta Prize to transforming a student project into REEV, a medical robotics company reinventing mobility care for millions of people with motion disorders.

Our mission is bold yet simple: restore and expand mobility, beginning with stroke survivors. We are building the world’s first AI-powered, robotic-enabled mobility care platform. At its core is DREEVEN, the first intelligent robotic knee orthosis—combining patented electro-hydraulic actuation with machine learning for real-time, personalized gait assistance. Paired with SENSE, our wearable gait-analysis system, it delivers a plug-and-play, clinically integrated solution for mobility recovery.

In just a few years, REEV has grown into a 30-person team across Toulouse and Boston, raised €12M—including a €9.2M seed round, and achieved FDA and CE registration for SENSE. To accelerate this mission, I moved to the US in 2023, beginning our American journey from a two-month Airbnb—driven by optimism, resilience, and a commitment to building a more intelligent, dignified future of mobility and care.

Robin Temporelli

CTO & Co-Founder

I’m Robin Temporelli, CTO and co-founder of REEV. Trained as a mechatronics engineer at INSA Toulouse and holding a Ph.D. in Mechatronics and Automation from the University of Sherbrooke, I have dedicated my career to advancing intelligent, human-centered robotics and medical technologies.

Before REEV, I led engineering teams at Airbus Defence and Space, where I was responsible for the technical development of electromechanical space mechanisms and served as the mechatronics focal point for the locomotion subsystem of the ExoMars Rover project. My early work at CTA-BRP (including my Ph.D.) and Safran deepened my expertise in mechatronics engineering, particularly in control engineering and mechanical engineering. Along the way, I have authored eight scientific publications and hold three patents (with two more pending), always striving for both scientific rigor and practical impact.

At REEV, I lead the technical vision and development of our intelligent wearable robotics: DREEVEN—the first intelligent robotic knee orthosis—and SENSE, our wearable gait-analysis system. My focus is on making advanced robotics accessible, lightweight, and truly personalized for people with motion disorders, ensuring our solutions are both innovative and user-centric. I am deeply involved in every aspect of our products, including engineering (mechanics, electronics, and software), project management and industrialisation.

Lou Awad

PT, DPT
Clinical Lead

I’m Lou Awad, a movement scientist and clinical physical therapist dedicated to translating innovative rehabilitation technologies into real-world clinical impact. As the founding director of Boston University’s Neuromotor Recovery Laboratory, I’ve spent my career bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and patient care.

My background spans clinical practice, biomechanical research, and digital health innovation. I hold faculty positions at Boston University (Associate Professor, Department of Physical Therapy & Athletic Training), Harvard University (Associate, Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences), and serve as a research faculty member at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Throughout my career, I have authored numerous scientific publications and serve as Associate Editor for leading journals including the Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation and the IEEE Open Journal of Engineering in Medicine and Biology.

My research focuses on the development and clinical translation of novel rehabilitation interventions, with particular expertise in robotic and digital therapeutic technologies for stroke and neurological gait disorders. I’m recognized as a key opinion leader in rehabilitation technology and serve as a scientific advisor to multiple federal and private institutions.

With REEV, I’m leading the clinical study at Boston University’s Neuromotor Recovery Lab, ensuring that DREEVEN meets the highest standards of clinical efficacy and patient safety. I’m passionate about making advanced wearable robotics accessible to the millions of people with difficulty walking, and REEV’s mission aligns perfectly with my commitment to restoring mobility and independence for patients who need it most.
